Product photos can be photographed without reflection and shadow with a light cube. This plays an important role, especially for the viewer and potential customers. In general, good pictures say more than a thousand words. The first-class photo of a product is extremely sales-promoting. In many cases, the product photos are not different from each other. They are usually recorded on a neutral background to fill the image. If these are certain product brands, these photos can certainly be found in some catalogs in the same or similar form. Offering your product photos appealingly should stand out from the masses. Every photo should become an interesting eye-catcher. To photograph your products attractively, not even a high effort is required. It is enough if the objects are combined with suitable decorative items.
The decoration must match the product.
A discreet decoration should also be used for each object to be photographed. However, you should be careful that, ultimately, not the decoration in the photo is in the foreground but still the actual product. In general, as much of the actual object as possible must be photographed in the photo. There is room for decorative elements in the edge areas and the background. For example, you can drape a used film strip on the side or in the background if you want to offer a camera. Both objects (camera and film strip) belong together conceptually. If you want to sell model railway items and offer a chic photo of a locomotive, you should at least put the locomotive on a straight rail line. If possible, part of the original packaging can still be seen in the background.
In addition to conceptual contexts, there are also festive occasions, which are decisive for decoration. If items are to be sold at Christmas, small fir branches, a candle, or a Christmas tree ball in the background are ideal. Likewise, the monotonous background can be exchanged for a small Christmas blanket. However, care should be taken to ensure that the actual motif does not disappear due to the variety of colors in the background and the decoration. Small decorative items, in general, are better suited than large formats. The combination of suitable decorative items with the object to be photographed should highlight a festive ambiance during the Christmas season. Of course, this also applies to other festivities, such as Easter.
Where exactly should the decoration be placed?
First and foremost, the main motif must be aligned correctly. Should this be photographed from the side or diagonally from the front? An obliquely photographed object gives it a little more depth. A look through the camera’s viewfinder shows the photographer where there is still room in the picture for possible decoration. So this can be placed either behind the object or laterally in front of it. As already explained above, such decoration should fit the theme. It would be wrong if you wanted to photograph a pair of shoes and set up a vase, an old camera, or the like as decoration in front of them. This would completely confuse the viewer. It is helpful with a decoration placed in the background so that it is perceived as slightly blurred. This can be well controlled with the right depth of field.
